don't like ecotowns? Here's £60m. Do you like them now?

Was wondering today whether ecotowns had seen a surge in local popularity after government announced it would plough £60m into the four schemes.

The ecotowns project has been something of a PR disaster, to be fair, with most communities rejecting the idea out of hand.

Those few where schemes looked set to be welcomed by the local authorities and those they represented have been rewarded for their loyalty this week, and can look forward to being showered with funding from the public purse for eco-friendly stuff like, err, free high speed broadband for every home.
